On December 1st, 2022 a formal kickoff to the Reconnecting the West Side Technical Assistance Project occurred with a site visit and a meeting at City Hall. This project is being led by CDTC (Capital District Transportation Committee) and CDRPC (Capital District Regional Planning Commission). Saratoga Safer Streets was in attendance and will be involved with this project, and the public will have the opportunity to review and comment on the recommendations provided.
The Project Mission Statement
Identify the safest pedestrian and bicycling route to connect residential, commercial, and other development along sections of Church St. (9N), Washington St., Kirby Rd., Pine Rd., West Ave., Grand Ave., and W. Circular St with an emphasis on safety and potential traffic calming improvements to the Grand Ave. corridor.

A stakeholder meeting is anticipated for late January / early February. A final technical report and presentation is expected to be completed by March 31, 2023. The draft report will include maps illustrating potential connections and facility types for pedestrians and bicyclists that will improve safety and accessibility in the study area. The final report will include an implementation plan that provides guidance on the best course of action to develop the recommended walking and bicycling facilities.
